BUCYRUS, OH – For the third consecutive year, Ohio Mutual Insurance Group has been recognized as one of the nation’s top 50 insurers, according to Ward Group, one of the industry’s most respected organizations. The honor was announced today during an on-line press conference hosted by the Cincinnati-based Ward Group.

“In the midst of a uniquely challenging time for all property & casualty insurance companies, we find it deeply gratifying to once again be included on this prestigious list,” said Ohio Mutual President and CEO Jim Kennedy. “This independent and authoritative affirmation of our financial strength and performance should be welcomed by every Ohio Mutual policyholder.”

Today’s recognition from Ward Group echoes the analysis of A.M. Best Co., which just three weeks ago upgraded the company’s issuer credit rating outlook from “stable” to “positive” while also affirming the company’s financial strength rating of “A” for the 19th consecutive year.

“Ward Group recognizes Ohio Mutual as one of the top-performing property-casualty companies in the insurance industry. Excellent returns and strong operating results helped make Ohio Mutual a top-performing insurance organization. Ward Group looks at company performance over a five-year period, and Ohio Mutual has demonstrated the ability to maintain outstanding results over the long term,” said Jeff Rieder, President of Ward Group.

For each of the past 21 years, Ward Group has conducted a detailed financial analysis of more than 3,000 property & casualty insurers domiciled in the United States. Each year the organization identifies the top performers – naming the top 50 companies to the “Ward’s 50® Top Performers” list for the year and awarding each the “Ward’s 50” ® Seal.

Each company named to the Ward’s 50® has excelled at balancing safety, consistency, and superior financial performance over the past five years, and is then benchmarked against the industry overall. Ward Group publishes a comparative analysis each year in Ward’s Results®, an industry financial reference series, which is available from Ward Group at
