BUCYRUS, OH – For five consecutive summers, Ohio Mutual Insurance Group has received the good news that it has been recognized among the nation’s top 50 insurers, in the form of membership on the coveted Ward’s 50® – a prestigious insurance honor awarded by Cincinnati-based Ward Group, one of the industry’s most respected organizations. The 2013 list, which again includes Ohio Mutual, was announced today during an online press conference.
For each of the past 23 years, Ward Group has conducted a detailed financial analysis of more than 3,000 property & casualty insurers domiciled in the United States, annually identifying the industry’s top performers. The top 50 companies are named to the “Ward’s 50® Top Performers” list for the year and awarded the “Ward’s 50® Seal.”
“Every company in our industry considers it a tremendous honor to be on the Ward’s 50 for even one year,” said Ohio Mutual President and CEO Jim Kennedy. “When a company achieves this status for five years in a row, it is a strong, objective endorsement of that organization’s long-term stability and financial strength. There are few recognitions in our industry more significant than this.”
The Ward Group recognition aligns with the analysis of A.M. Best Co., which affirmed Ohio Mutual’s financial strength rating of “A” for the 21st consecutive year in June.
Each company named to the Ward’s 50® has excelled at balancing safety, consistency, and superior financial performance over the past five years, and is then benchmarked against the industry overall. Ward Group publishes a comparative analysis each year in Ward’s Results®, an industry financial reference series, which is available from Ward Group at
“We’d like to offer a ‘high five’ to our policyholders, associates, agents, and other business partners – thanking each of them for the part they have played in helping us achieve inclusion on the Ward’s 50 for a fifth consecutive year,” Kennedy added.
Ohio Mutual Insurance Group, founded in 1901 and based in Bucyrus, OH, partners with nearly 400independent agencies to distribute quality property and casualty insurance products throughout Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Ohio, Indiana, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The company also maintains a regional office in Saco, ME. Ohio Mutual has maintained a rating of “A / Stable” from A.M. Best Co. for 21 consecutive years, and in 2009 was named Company of the Year by the nation’s largest association of independent insurance agents. Additional company information is available at
