Marcella Smith Selected to Lead Human Resources for Ohio Mutual

BUCYRUS, OH – Ohio Mutual President and CEO Mark C. Russell today announced that Marcella S. Smith will join the company effective April 25 as Vice President of Human Resources.  Smith will succeed 43-year veteran Michael Horvath, who will retire after 13 years with the company on June 1.

“Marcella has an impressive professional background, with nearly three decades of experience in human resources and training,” said Russell. “She brings a broad knowledge of strategy development and organizational design, and an understanding of the insurance industry –all of which will allow her to make immediate contributions as a member of our senior management team.”

A resident of Mansfield, OH, Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University, and an MBA from Ashland University.  She comes to Ohio Mutual from AAA Ohio Auto Club, and has previously held HR executive and management positions at Sarnova, Inc. and School Specialty Inc.

As Vice President of Human Resources, Smith will be responsible for supporting the strategic direction of the organization in areas including talent management, succession planning, training and development, diversity, compensation, and benefits.
