Based in Bucyrus, Ohio, Ohio Mutual Insurance Group traces its roots to 1901 when the Ohio Mutual Tornado, Cyclone and Windstorm Insurance Association began providing insurance to property owners across Ohio.
In 2003, we sold our first policy outside of Ohio to a business owner in Rhode Island. Ohio Mutual added five states in New England, largely due to our 2010 acquisition of Maine-based Casco Indemnity Company and added our full line of products to Indiana in 2019. Ohio Mutual currently writes nearly $300 million in premiums each year — covering homes, autos, farms and commercial properties in seven states.
In 2020, our policyholders voted overwhelmingly to adopt a mutual holding company structure, which extends mutual membership benefits to all of our insureds.
