Ohio Mutual Recognizes 2019 Crawford Opportunity Award Recipients

BUCYRUS, OH – Ohio Mutual Insurance Group is pleased to announce the 2019 recipients of the annual Ohio Mutual Crawford Opportunity Award.

The 2019 Ohio Mutual Crawford Opportunity Award recipients are:

  • Carson McCarthy is graduating from Buckeye Central High School, and plans on attendingMiami University (OH) where he will major in computer science & information security
  • Zachary Moritz is from Colonel Crawford High School, and he plans to attend Ohio State University to major in business finance
  • Jonathon Wurm from Buckeye Central High School will be attending Ashland University to major in accounting.

“Supporting our local students’ collegiate journey is of great interest for Ohio Mutual,” said Ohio Mutual Human Resources Manager Casie Grau. “We offer our congratulations to the 2019 Crawford Opportunity award winners, and we look forward to watching their academic and professional development.”

The Ohio Mutual Crawford Opportunity Award is an annually renewable $1,500 scholarship offered to three individuals either living in or attending school in Crawford County, whose chosen field of collegiate study aligns with emerging opportunities in the insurance industry. The Award is renewable for up to two additional years, provided the recipient maintains a minimum collegiate GPA of 3.0/4, and recipients studying risk management or actuarial science will receive an additional $500 in the second and third years of the Award. An additional scholarship year is available to any recipient who also is selected for a summer internship at Ohio Mutual.

Since 2009, Ohio Mutual has offered nearly $67,000 in college scholarships to graduating seniors at area high schools.
